New Ford China plant capacity 200,000 units/yr-COO

TOKYO, July 22 (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co.'s planned new plant in China will have initial output capacity of 200,000 units a year, Chief Operating Officer Jim Padilla was quoted as saying on Thursday by a spokesman at partner Mazda Motor Corp. .

The U.S. auto giant and its Chinese partner, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd. , held a ceremony in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing on Thursday to sign an investment agreement to buy land for the new factory.

Mazda, owned one-third by Ford, will team up with Ford in the new venture.
