The mini boom in first-quarter light-vehicle sales hasn't rubbed off on the big truck market, where Class 4-8 sales took a 32.2% plunge from year-ago levels during the month of March. Combined medium- and heavy-truck deliveries reached only 33,553, down from 49,476 in March 2000. The monthly tally put first quarter sales at 89,314, off 27.6% from a year earlier. Class 8 sales, alone, fell a whopping 47.0% on a daily rate basis (27 days both periods), totaling 12,505 in March. ...
