BMW AG names Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. Chairman and CEO Ian Robertson to its board of management.

Robertson replaces Stefan Krause as the board member in charge of sales and marketing. Krause is leaving the German auto maker to assume a post on the board of management of Deutsche Bank.

Robertson will retain his current position at Rolls-Royce until a successor is selected.

During his 3-year stint at Rolls-Royce, he was credited with directing the luxury auto maker through two product launches and helping drive a more than 25% increase in sales.

Robertson will be the first Brit in BMW history to sit on the board of management.

“I am delighted and honored by this appointment,” Robertson says in a statement. “It is a recognition of the success of Rolls-Royce in the last few years, and I am pleased that my relationship with the outstanding team at Goodwood (Rolls’ U.K. headquarters) and around the world will continue for the time being.”
