California Easing Off Stiff Opposition to National Emissions Standard

In an about-face over the course of less than 24 hours, California reportedly softens its hard line against a single national standard regulating carbon-dioxide tailpipe emissions.

“I think we may be very close to being on the same page” with the federal government, Mary Nichols, chairwoman of the California Air Resources Board, says in a report in The Detroit News.
