Sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks rose 24.6% in Canada last month, bettering the 7.7% uptick recorded in January.
All groups reported jumps, including Class 8, which saw a 22.8% spike from year-ago, Ward’s data shows.
International andwere the two truck makers losing volume in an otherwise positive segment. Freightliner’s 94.7% increase was Class 8’s biggest.

Medium-duty sales rose 28.6% in February in Canada, with Class 7 notching an 8.4% gain. Freightliner was the top-gaining brand, up 230.8% but on just 43 sales.
Class 6’s 27.9% increase largely was due to the performance of No.1 seller International, which notched a 65.6% gain.
Class 5 saw the largest jump of all medium-duty groups last month, up 47.3% thanks to a near tripling of volume by, which took over segment leadership from .
Class 4 recorded the smallest rise, at 7.6%.increased its dominance in the thinly populated segment, with 67 sales, up 97.1% from year-ago.
Through February, sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks in Canada are running 16.4% ahead of the first two months of 2010.
