SAO PAULO – Volkswagen do Brasil Ltd. says its plant in metropolitan Curitiba has produced 300,000 VW and Audi cars in the last four years. The facility has generated more than 12,000 jobs and attracted 14 suppliers to the region. In 2002, it turned out 97,000 vehicles including the Golf, Audi 3 and Saveiro. A total of 53,900 units were exported last year. The plant in 2002 was responsible for more than one-third of Volkswagen Brazil’s exports, or 53,900 of 137,000 total units.
