The Detroit Auto Dealers Association set an ambitious goal of $200,000 for a relief fund in connection with events of Sept. 11. The DADA says employees and owners of 240-member dealerships exceeded that goal by $25,000.

“Detroit area dealers and employees really stepped up to the plate in this patriotic effort,” says DADA President Chuck Fortinberry.

Many employees contributed, and their donations were matched by the dealers. Since its inception in 1999, the DADA Charitable Foundation Fund has awarded 21 grants totaling nearly $500,000.
