DOT Secretary LaHood Condemns Distracted Driving; Pleased With Detroit Three Progress

DETROIT – If U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood had his druthers, distracted driving would be akin to drunk driving or operating a vehicle without a seatbelt.

When asked what the government can do to address the problem, LaHood is blunt.

“Pass laws, the same kind of laws that were passed when 0.8 was established as the standard for drunk driving, and the same kind of laws passed for ‘Click It or Ticket,’” he says here during a speech to the Detroit ...
