Ford Motor Co. will launch production Jan. 2 of the ’08 Lincoln Town Car at its St. Thomas, ON, Canada, assembly facility.
Output of the vehicle ended when the auto maker shuttered its Wixom, MI, plant May 31 as part of its ongoing Way Forward North American restructuring strategy.
Machinery and tooling were put in place at St. Thomas following a 4-week shutdown in July for modification to the body shop in preparation for the Town Car, says Scott Smith, plant chairman of Canadian Auto Workers Local 1520.
St. Thomas currently operates on one shift producing the Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis fullsize sedans.
