Ford Motor Co. Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Marv Adams is resigning from his post, effective April 21.

Adams, who also is Ford’s head of corporate strategy, is leaving to join Citigroup Inc. as the company’s new CIO, the auto maker says.

Nick Smither, Ford’s former executive director-global information technology business operations, will succeed Adams and report to President and Chief Operating Officer Jim Padilla.

Ford says Smither will not be responsible for the corporate strategy group. That change will be released in a separate announcement.
