GM Increasing Drive for Cellulosic Ethanol

LEBANON, NH – It may puzzle some that cash-strapped General Motors Corp. is digging into its dwindling bankroll in an effort to wean its vehicles from gasoline in favor of cellulosic ethanol.

But Mary Beth Stanek, director-environment and energy policy and commercialization, sees the effort as a good fit for an auto maker that has compiled more than a quarter century of biofuels research.
