Holden Cancels Supercar

Holden Ltd. is canceling plans to build Australia's first supercar, the Monaro-based HRT427, because of the high costs involved. Only 50 of the cars, referred to as Australia's answer to the Porsche and Ferrari brands, were to have been built by Holden Special Vehicles. Two have been built.

All 50 had confirmed orders, and an unexpectedly high proportion was to be for road use. But the auto maker could not meet the A$215,000 ($145,000) price target.
