Jaguar Cars unveils a freshened version of its ’08 flagship XJ at the Geneva auto show today.
The new styling is designed to give the flagship a more “purposeful” appearance, with a revised front end, new side lower vents, rear aero spoiler and a new rear bumper.
The XJ also features an all-aluminum body construction, providing improved handling and fuel savings compared with steel-bodied cars, Jaguar says, adding the body is 60% stiffer and 40% lighter than the model it replaces.
Six new colors are available for ’08: Emerald Fire, Pearl Grey, Crystal Blue, Botanical Green, Vapour Grey and Azure Blue.
Inside is an all-new seat design, standard heated front seats and increased rear leg room.
The ’08 XJ also gets an advanced Bluetooth communication system that allows up to five cell phones to be paired wirelessly to the in-car telephone system.
To keep interior noise to a minimum, the XJ comes equipped with Integrated Acoustic Dampening, which uses acoustic-absorbing materials and airtight seals between the hood and engine compartment to reduce engine noise. Acoustic laminated glass contributes to the sound dampening, Jaguar says.
Available engines for ’08 include a 204-hp 2.7L V-6 twin turbodiesel; 3L V-6 gasoline engine producing 240 hp; and a 400-hp 4.2L supercharged V-8. All engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
