January’s U.S. Sales Tally at 1.039 Million Light Vehicles

The month’s performance marked a 4.4% decline from year-ago’s 1,087,368 deliveries.

With straggler BMW of North America LLC reporting in today, January’s U.S. light-vehicle sales tally is official at 1,039,798, Ward’s data shows.

The performance marked a 4.4% decline from year-ago’s 1,087,368, with both periods having the same number (25) of selling days. January’s results translated into a 15.18 million seasonally adjusted annual rate, well off year-ago’s 16.60 million.

BMW reported a 22.4% drop in demand during the month, at 16,935 vehicles. Car sales were off 23.1% and truck deliveries declined 19.1%.
