Kia Motors Corp. lost about 2,000 vehicles destined for North America in a fire onboard an abandoned freighter. The freighter was hauling 1,997 Kias bound for the U.S. when it got caught in a typhoon early last month. The ship was stranded and washed up on a Japanese island near Tokyo. The cause of the fire is not known. Kia says the cars were valued at $20 million, but insurance will cover the loss.
