Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.’s Lexus Div. confirms the CT 200h compact hybrid-electric car will make its way to the U.S.
The CT 200h debuted Tuesday at the Geneva auto show and will be shown for the first time in North America at the New York auto show late this month.
A Lexus spokesman tells Ward’s says the CT will go on sale in the U.S. sometime between early and mid 2011.
“When the all-new Lexus CT 200h enters the market, it will be the only hybrid vehicle in the emerging premium compact segment,” Mark Templin, Lexus Div. group vice president and general manager says in a statement.
Other models in the still-small compact-premium segment in the U.S. include the1-Series and Volvo C30.
The 5-door CT will become the second Lexus dedicated HEV in the U.S., after last year’s launch of the HS 250h, and overall is Lexus’ fifth U.S. hybrid.
As with the European model, the CT 200h in the U.S. will pair a 1.8L gasoline engine with an electric motor, as well as offer various driving modes that prioritize fuel efficient or sporty driving.
