Mazda North American Operations says Eric Johnston, former vice president-customer service and parts operations, will take over as vice president-sales.

Johnston will replace Brian Colianni, who also had the responsibility for marketing Mazda vehicles. Colianni is returning to Ford Motor Co., which owns a third of Mazda Motor Corp., on April 1 ending a 3-year tenure with MNAO.

In addition to his title as vice president-sales, Johnston, a 17-year Mazda veteran, also will be responsible for field operations. He will report to MNAO CEO and President Jim O’Sullivan.

David Klan, who joined MNAO last August from MMC, is director-marketing, and also reports to O’Sullivan.

Additionally, Weldon Munsey, formerly assistant sales manager-western region, replaces Steve Mears as manager-dealer affairs. Mears has left Mazda, the auto maker says.
