Mazda2 to Spearhead Auto Maker’s Growth in ASEAN

Mazda Motor Corp. aims to sell 20,000 units of the Mazda2 in Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries in the vehicle’s first year of production, doubling the auto maker’s market share in the region to 2%.

The first Mazda2 subcompact car recently rolled off the production line at AutoAlliance (Thailand) Co. Ltd., a 50-50 joint venture between Mazda and Ford Motor Co.

Mazda aims to raise its ASEAN market share to 4%-5% within five years, the auto maker says.
