Just a week after announcing his resignation from General Motors Corp., Mark McNabb will become president and CEO of Maserati North America Inc. on June 1.

No official reason was given for his departure from GM, where he oversaw the auto maker’s luxury Cadillac, Hummer and Saab brands. However, reports suggested McNabb wanted to be closer to his family in New Jersey.

Maserati North America is headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

Prior to joining GM last year, McNabb served shortly as the vice president-sales and marketing, for Nissan North America Inc. He also held other positions within Nissan’s global operations.
