Mercedes B-Class Will Bypass U.S.

LOS OLIVOS, CA – Daimler AG is rethinking its next-generation Mercedes-Benz B-class subcompact to accommodate America’s evolving appetite for small cars, says the auto maker’s top U.S. executive.

“We’re looking at various variations of the car which might prove better for markets like the U.S.,” says Ernst Lieb, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz U.S.A. Inc.

Lieb is mum on details, other than to suggest a launch – if a program is approved – in the 2011-2012 timeframe. ...
