Mercedes Targets 2008 for Bluetec Boost

ST. HELENA, CA – The next-generation Mercedes-Benz Bluetec diesel technology could be found in four of the luxury brand’s vehicles by 2008.

Known as AdBlue, the technology converts toxic nitrogen oxide emissions to a harmless mix of nitrogen and water by introducing a water-based urea solution to Bluetec’s advanced after-treatment system. The system combines exhaust gas re-circulation with an oxidizing catalytic converter and a particulate filter.
