Motors Corp. will stage the world debut of its Concept-Sportback 5-door hatchback Sept. 12 at the Frankfurt motor show.
The Concept-Sportback sits on a new platform co-developed by MMC with the (See related story: Mitsubishi Reverses Plan to Share D-Segment With Chrysler)Group that can accommodate a cross/utility vehicle, such as the new Outlander, as well as C-segment variants.
The vehicle's exterior showcases a new design direction, says, with a “sporty wedge-like profile, sharply chiseled lines, and an assertive stance” thanks to Concept-Sportback's long wheelbase and wide track proportions.
Making its European premiere will be the Lancer Evolution IX. The vehicle has been on sale in Japan since March. Lancer is the No.2 best-selling Mitsubishi vehicle in Europe.
The new Lancer Evolution features a more powerful engine employing Mitsubishi's MIVEC technology, a 6-speed manual transmission, Bilstein shock absorbers and aluminum roof panel.
Lancer Evolution styling gets a facelift, with a new square-jawed front on the outside and new upholstery and trim on the inside.
Also present in Frankfurt will be the '06 Lancer sedan and Lancer station wagon models, and the '06 Dakar Rally Pajero Evolution (sold as the Montero in Spain and Shogun in the U.K.).
