Nissan North America Inc. will stage the debut of its Sentra SE-R compact sedan at the upcoming Los Angeles auto show.

The Sentra SE-R is the performance variant of the Sentra lineup. Nissan will offer two SE-R models: the SE-R and SE-R Spec V.

Powering the Sentra SE-R will be the same 2.5L 4-cyl. engine in the standard Sentra, but Nissan says it will have higher output.

The auto maker promises another “uniquely styled, exhilarating performance-oriented vehicle, which marks Nissan’s entry into a previously untapped customer segment” at its Nov. 29 press conference.

Nissan also says it will participate in the 2006 Hybrids and Green Cars/LA event taking place from Nov. 29-30, showcasing auto makers’ environmentally oriented vehicles.

Nissan will display and provide for drives the ’07 Altima Hybrid sedan, ’07 Armada SUV with flex-fuel ethanol technology and its X-Trail Fuel-Cell Vehicle.
