Nissan Mum on Plans to Utilize Chrysler Hemi

This fall, the auto makers are expected to finalize a supply agreement that will see Chrysler assemble the next-generation Nissan Titan pickup.

Nissan North America Inc. declines to comment on remarks made by Chrysler LLC Chairman Jim Press that the next-generation Nissan Titan fullsize pickup will receive a version of Chrysler’s 5.7L Hemi V-8.

Press tells a Motor Press Guild event in Los Angeles this week the Hemi would power the new Titan, which will be based on the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup.

The Hemi would replace the Titan’s 5.6L V-8.

This fall, the auto makers are expected to finalize a supply agreement that will see Chrysler assemble the next-generation Nissan Titan pickup at Chrysler’s plant in Saltillo, Mexico.

In May, Scott Kunselman, Chrysler vice president-truck product team, told Ward’s the auto makers were discussing the possibility of sharing the Hemi.

“Whether they get all the features, the word ‘Hemi,’ those are the kinds of things (under discussion),” Kunselman said.
