Saab Automobile will mark 30 years of turbocharging with the debut of the Turbo X at the Frankfurt auto show next month.

The limited-edition, all-wheel-drive 9-3 harkens back to the Saab 99/900 “black turbos” of the past. Saab isn’t revealing technical details or specifications but dubs the model “the ultimate expression” of the 9-3 range and promises it will deliver “standard-setting” levels of performance.

It was at the 1977 Frankfurt show that the Swedish auto maker revealed its first turbocharged model.
