VW Eyes Engines 1.4L and Smaller for U.S.

WOLFSBURG, GERMANY – Volkswagen AG is not known for big engines in the U.S., but it nonetheless is considering offering significantly smaller ones in the future.

Sources here say more fuel-efficient 1.2L and 1.4L engines with direct injection and forced induction could displace some of VW’s larger naturally aspirated engines in vehicles such as the Golf hatchback and Jetta sedan. They already have in Europe and Asia.
