In about four years, PPG Industries' Advanced Color Design Team says we'll see a lot more blue cars on the road.

“Watch for blue to make a comeback and take more market share from green,” says Marilyn White, manager of PPG's international color styling group.

PPG recently opened its Global Color Trends show in Troy, MI, to automaker customers who are deciding now on colors for '04-'05.

In North America, green peaked in 1997 as an automotive coating and has been sliding ever since.

“Today's blues are bright, yet they're not splashy,” says William Michael, PPG's director of global color technology. “We're now able to do things with shades of blue that we couldn't do 10 years ago.”
