Abarth Pulls Sheet Off Trio of Performance Models

Abarth says its third unveiling marks a milestone. The 695 Competitzione is the brand’s first “street legal” Scorpion race car.

FRANKFURT – Fiat’s Abarth performance-oriented brand introduces a trio of vehicles: two based on the Fiat 500 and one on the larger Fiat Punto.

The 500 Cabrio Italia edition features a blue-themed livery to mark Italy’s 150th anniversary as a unified country.

The A-segment car will be powered by a 160-hp 1.4L Turbo T-Jet engine. Top speed is 130 mph (209 km/h), taking just 7.4 seconds reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standing start.

Such performance is enabled, in part, by a button-activated sport setting that modulates control-unit mapping, turbo pressure and steering-wheel load.

A high-performance brake system, which features ventilated front discs and a fixed 4-piston caliper, promises greater control, while Xenon headlights improve visibility.

The Abarth Punto “SuperSport” series is marked by a two-tone livery that features special matte-black paint on the hood and roof. The effect recalls Abarth racing teams from the past.

It is powered by a 180-hp 1.4L MultiAir engine that makes 180 hp and reaches a top speed of 134 mph (216 km/h) and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 7.5 seconds.

The car also benefits from Abarth Blue&Me satellite navigation.

Inside, a tri-color hub accents the black leather steering wheel. Red inserts highlight the seats.
