DETROIT – In keeping with the new design theme set by the 7-Series line of sedans, BMW AG revamps the exterior styling of its 3-Series coupe and convertible to better resemble the rest of the BMW family.

The '04 3-Series features a more athletic look.

The ’04 3-Series coupe and convertible feature a more athletic look, thanks to their lower and wider stance. BMW says it not only wanted to make the coupe and convertible more aggressive in appearance, it also wanted to differentiate them from their 3-Series sedan siblings.

The coupe and convertible maintain their signature long hood with the BMW kidney grille now wider and more prominent. There’s also a modified power dome on the hood and a new headlamp design, in keeping with the 7-Series.

The rear fascia includes a wider grab handle in the trunk, with new light-emitting diodes taillamps and a redesigned bumper cover.

Ride and handling also have been improved for ’04 thanks to the adoption of the sedan’s sport-tuned suspension as standard equipment.

BMW paid close attention to keeping a conforming front-to-rear weight balance on the coupe and convertible to improve handling characteristics. And steering systems have been improved to provide more precise steering during tight cornering maneuvers.
