Sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks in Canada jumped 12.7% in April to end the month at 3,139 units, vs. year-ago’s 2,785 units. Heavy-duty (Class 8) sales were up 20.6% to 1,896 units, compared with the 1,572 unit sales result in like-2002. Most of the increase came from PACCAR Inc., which saw its truck sales climb 77.3% to 523 units. Freightliner Corp. also reports a 24.6% sales gain to end the month with 624 trucks sold.
