Chrysler Group will invest C$365 million ($296 million) to construct a new paint shop at its Windsor, Ont., Canada, assembly plant, according to reports in the Windsor Star.

The new paint shop will be used for the next generation of minivans, which should go into production within the next 18 months.

Along with the investment, the union agrees to cut 19 janitorial and 68 assembly line jobs at the plant, as well as initiate early retirement for another 300 employees.

Plans call for Chrysler to begin construction of the new paint shop in March.
