To partially offset the cost of those new $300 rebates Chrysler is throwing at its coupes -- Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring and Eagle Talon -- the company is boosting prices on its minivans, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. The price hikes range from $40 to as much as $300. Chrysler sold 10 times as many vans and SUVS last year as sport coupes, so it should yield a net gain in revenue. At least Mr. Kerkorian should not complain that Chrysler is giving money to consumers that rightfully belongs to shareholders.
