Mr. Sheridan also claims that he has proof the liftgate latches in the current minivans are faulty and may give way in certain accidents. The court is allowing him to share this data and information on the crash-testing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If that that's not enough, there seems to be some question about a Chrysler's stand on replacing the latch. When the Detroit Free Press called the company's customer hot line, the operator emphasized that the latch is safe but that customers can pay to have a new latch installed. Chrysler says that's not the company's stand, and that the response was unauthorized.
