A closer look at rising vehicle costs.

Cars coming off Henry Ford's historic first assembly line sold for hundreds of dollars. Vehicles rolling out of today's plants are costing consumers tens of thousands of dollars. It is being referred to as the affordability crisis. Runzheimer International reports that it costs $14,131 a year to own a Cadillac DeVille. On the other end of the scale is the Geo Metro, which costs $6,464 a year to operate.

On the other end of the scale is the Geo Metro, which costs $6,464 a year to operate. The most expensive truck, Runzheimer says, is the Ford Club Wagon Custom at $8,846. The least expensive is the Ford Ranger pickup at $7,682.
