DMAX Reaches Production Milestone

The Moraine, OH, plant produces 200,000 diesel engines annually.

DMAX Ltd., the diesel engine joint venture between General Motors Corp. and Isuzu Motors Ltd., rolls out its 1 millionth Duramax V-8 turbodiesel at its plant in Moraine, OH.

DMAX was founded in 1998 and introduced its first U.S. diesel in the '01 model year. Its current 6.6L V-8 is offered in Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra heavy-duty pickups, as well as Chevy Kodiak/GMC TopKick medium-duty commercial vehicles and Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana fullsize vans.

The Moraine plant employs 1,225 hourly and salaried workers and produces 200,000 engines annually, GM says.
