More stories related to 2005 Greater L.A. Auto Show Ferrari SpA fills the void left by the outgoing 360 Spider convertible via its new Superamerica convertible.

Based on the 575M Maranello, the 12-cyl. sports car will make its debut at the Los Angeles and Detroit auto shows in January.

The Pininfarina SpA-styled Superamerica features an innovative rotating hardtop roof, dubbed Revocromico. The top rotates rearward and slides into the rear trunk area, while the rear window doubles as a wind deflector when the top is open.

Available with either a standard 6-speed manual or optional F1 gearbox, the 5.8L 12-cyl. engine produces 540 hp at 7,200 rpm and 434 lb.-ft. (589 Nm) of torque at 5,250 rpm.

Ferrari says the Superamerica has a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).
