Focus Gets Midcycle Updates

Ford says the new fascias provide a sportier appearance, with the front incorporating a larger open area similar to that found on the upcoming Fiesta B-car.

Ford Motor Co. makes midcycle changes to its Focus coupe, which it says were inspired by customer feedback.

For ’09, the Focus will get new front and rear fascias, a new roofline spoiler and standard 17-in. aluminum wheels on the SES trim level.

Ford says the new fascias provide a sportier appearance, with the front incorporating a larger open area similar to that found on the upcoming Fiesta B-car, which is set to debut in 2010.

Fog lamps now come standard and are better integrated into the design of the front fascia, Ford says.

Additionally, the 2-bar chrome front grille and chrome accents around the headlamps have been darkened.

Performance-wise, the Focus SES coupe with a 4-speed automatic transmission boasts quicker acceleration and a throatier exhaust note due to a new 4.2:1 final drive ratio and a sport-tuned exhaust.
