Ford Motor Co. will focus initial production of its upcoming Escape on the V-6 version of the compact sport/utility vehicle (SUV), and may drop the base 4-cyl. model altogether if V-6 demand stays high. Doug Scott, Ford's SUV group marketing general manager, says that 90% of the Escape's initial volume will be devoted to the 3L, 200-hp V-6/automatic transmission combination.
