Freightliner Executive to Lead DaimlerChrysler Canada

Reid Bigland's appointment is the third leadership change at DaimlerChrysler Canada in eight months.

Freightliner executive Reid Bigland has been named to replace Steven Landry as president and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc.

Bigland, who had been president of South Carolina-based Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp., will report to Joe Eberhardt, Chrysler Group executive vice president-global sales, marketing and service.

Effective immediately, Bigland, a 40-year-old British Columbia native, is responsible for all sales and marketing activities in Canada.

Landry, who will continue to oversee the strategic direction of DaimlerChrysler Canada as its chairman, was named last month to replace Gary Dilts, who retired as Chrysler vice president-sales.

Bigland’s appointment marks the third leadership change at the Canadian operation in less than eight months. Landry succeeded Mark Norman, who left the top job suddenly in November 2005.
