Honda Mfg. of Alabama LLC breaks ground Nov. 21 on its new $425 million automotive assembly line, the second line at its Lincoln, AL, plant.

The addition will double Lincoln’s production capacity to 300,000 engines and vehicles annually and add more than 2,000 workers, bringing total employment at the plant to 4,300.

Honda’s investment in Lincoln will increase to more than $1 billion with the addition of the second line. Lincoln produces Honda’s Odyssey minivan and a V-6 engine. Output of both is about 150,000 units annually.

No decision has been announced as to which vehicle will be built on the second line, slated to open in early 2004.
