Honda building 'Asia' car in Thailand

Later this month Honda Motor Co. will begin assembling a new car, code-named EK, in Thailand, designed specifically for Asian customers. By 1999 Honda expects to assemble up to 100,000 cars annually with assembly plants in seven countries, including the Philippines, Taiwan, India and Pakistan. The small, four-door car will be powered by a 1.3L, 4-cyl. engine. For India, Honda will offer a 1.5L engine.
