Kia Motors Corp. this month launches full-scale production of the Sportage cross/utility vehicle at its Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors Ltd. plant in Yanchung, China. The auto maker expects to produce 9,000 Sportages this year at its established DYK plant, which has an annual capacity of 130,000 units. “We are targeting (Sportage) production of 30,000 units for 2008,” a Kia spokesman says. The same plant also builds the Carnival multipurpose vehicle, Optima midsize sedan and Rio subcompact. ...
