DaimlerChrysler is testing a laser paint-testing technology, developed by Plymouth, MI-based Perceptron, that sends consecutive infrared pulses on a coat of wet paint. Each pulse creates an ultrasonic ‘ring’ — higher pitched when scanning thinner surface areas; lower across thicker surfaces.
