Mazda Builds 1 Millionth Atenza

A special edition model is being launched to commemorate the milestone, with standard brown leather seating and other features.

Mazda Motor Corp. says it built the 1 millionth Atenza, or Mazda6, sedan on April 19 at its Hiroshima, Japan, facility.

The vehicle went into production in February 2002.

To commemorate the milestone, Mazda is launching a special edition “23EX Brown Leather style” Atenza in Japan today.

The vehicle has brown leather seating, heated driver and passenger seats (an Atenza first) and chrome-plated outer door handles.

Three exterior colors are available for the special edition model, including one exclusive color, sunlight silver metallic.

Pricing of the 2-wheel-drive, 2.3L car with 5-speed automatic transmission begins at ¥2,542,858 ($21,582).
