Mazda Motor Corp. says it produced the 2 millionth Mazda3 at the end of October, a milestone achieved in five years and four months.
It is the fastest time the auto maker has hit that mark since introducing its latest generation of vehicles in 2002.
The Mazda3 (known as the Mazda Axela in Japan) also is the first vehicle from the Hiroshima, Japan-based auto maker to exceed its annual production volume for four consecutive years since output of the model began in 2003.
The Mazda3 is produced at the auto maker’s assembly plant in Hofu, Japan.
Mazda introduced the latest iteration of the Mazda3 at the Los Angeles auto show this week.
