In an attempt to reduce costs and expand operating margins, Troy, MI-based Meritor Automotive Inc. announces a restructuring plan that will cost 300 workers their jobs. The supplier will consolidate selected facilities in North America and Europe. Meritor says it will shut down a European sunroof-manufacturing plant, but will decide on other facilities within two weeks.
