Mitsubishi Motors Corp. reportedly will pay DaimlerChrysler AG damages in relation to the cover-up of defects and recalls at Mitsubishi’s former truck unit. A Jan. 21 report in the Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun pegs the settlement at ¥50 billion-¥80 billion ($484 million-$775 million). Mitsubishi has denied the report, says the Wall Street Journal, although the auto maker does admit to being in talks with DC for damages.
