Mitsubishi Motors Corp. says exports from its Thailand production base, MMC Sittipol, will soon exceed 500,000 vehicles. Mitsubishi began shipping vehicles from Thailand in 1988, sending the Lancer to Canada, and it will be the first auto maker to top the 500,000 mark for exports, says MMC President and CEO Rolf Eckrodt. In addition, Mitsubishi will be investing 21 billion baht ($475 million) in Thailand for the development and production of its next-generation pickup truck.
