Despite intense competition among 100 or so vendors, numerical control (NC) software pricing is relatively stable, based on the NC Software Pricing Report, a survey of NC software vendors published by CIMdata Inc. of Ann Arbor, MI. "Although relative stability is being achieved, the underlying trend is for software prices to continue to fall per unit of functionality ... each year additional features are added to the software, and the hardware price performance continues to improve," says the report's author.
