New Delta Bigger, More Luxurious Than Cars of Past

Lancia Automobile SpA’s upcoming Delta model marks a move up-market.

Set to be unveiled at the Geneva auto show in March, the new car, which revives a nameplate that bowed from the market in the mid-1990s, measures 177.3 ins. (450.0 cm) long and 70.9 ins. (180.0 cm) wide and rests on a 106.4-in.(270.0-cm) wheelbase. That slots the hatchback well above Europe’s C-segment in size, where the car traditionally had resided.

In addition to its upscale dimensions, the Delta is expected to offer luxury appointments, as well as electronic stability control, Lancia’s “Blue&Me” infotainment system that allows connectivity with portable electronic devices and a Bose stereo.

The car’s expansive greenhouse is meant to create a light and airy feeling inside, similar to that of a multipurpose vehicle, the auto maker says.
